Foundations for Life
Every Journey begins with Understanding

You may arrive here carrying years of unanswered questions.
Perhaps you have a diagnosis. Perhaps you are waiting for one.
Wherever you’re starting from, you’re welcome here.
Foundations for Life is a personalised mentoring journey for children, young people, adults and families who want life to feel more manageable, more meaningful and more understood.
This isn’t about changing who you are.
It’s about understanding yourself, recognising your strengths, and building practical foundations that work with your brain, your body and your life.
Because lasting change begins with understanding.
Understanding
Before we can change anything, we need to understand it.
Together we’ll gently explore what life looks like for you.
What feels difficult.
What feels exhausting.
What feels confusing.
And just as importantly…
What already works.
Understanding allows us to stop fighting against ourselves and start working with ourselves.
Discovering
As we begin to understand your experiences, patterns often start to emerge.
Why everyday tasks feel overwhelming
Why certain environments drain you
Why emotions sometimes feel bigger than the situation
Why relationships feel difficult
Why you have spent years believing you were failing when actually you’ve simply been working far harder than most people realise.
There is no judgement. Only curiosity.
Building & Growing
Understanding on its own isn’t enough.
Together we’ll begin building practical strategies that fit your everyday life.
Strategies that work for you.
Because your life is unique.
Your support should be too.
Real change rarely happens overnight.
Sometimes you’ll suddenly realise that something which once felt impossible now feels manageable.
My role is to walk alongside you as those foundations continue to grow.
Support that looks beyond the surface
Behaviours, emotions or difficulty is often communication, a sign that something underneath needs understanding, and supporting
My approach looks at the whole picture:
- communication
- sensory needs
- emotional regulation
- environment
- relationships
- expectations
- strengths and interests
I believe everyone deserves to be understood.
Together, we explore what is happening, why it may be happening, and what changes can help life feel more manageable.
What support will fit you best?

What can you expect when we work together?
- A warm, safe space to talk honestly
- Someone who sees behaviour as communication
- Calm, clear explanations that make sense
- Strategies that fit your real life
- Support that respects you, your strengths and neurotype
- A partnership — not a hierarchy
- Professional guidance that’s grounded in training, research, and real-life practice
My work is built on empathy, evidence, and experience — but also on genuine care for the people I support.
Your support includes more than the time we spend together.
Every mentoring journey includes more than the 60 minutes we spend together in sessions. Support can also include:
✓ Personalised session planning — preparing sessions around current needs, priorities and goals
✓ Professional reflection and research — reviewing relevant information, exploring strategies and considering approaches that may support your situation
✓ Resources and practical strategies — sharing relevant tools, ideas and recommendations tailored to your needs
✓ Communication between sessions — brief WhatsApp support where appropriate, to help with questions, reflections or situations as they arise
✓ Liaising with professionals — where appropriate and with consent, communication with schools, healthcare professionals or other support networks to help create consistent understanding
✓ Supporting documentation — letters, written summaries or reports where needed and appropriate
✓ Flexible session delivery — sessions may take place at different times, online, in person, or as Walk & Talk sessions, as well as within the community depending on what best supports your needs.
Because every person and family is different, the level of additional support included will be tailored to your mentoring journey and individual needs.

Is Foundations for Life for you?
You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin. You don’t need a diagnosis.
You don’t need to know exactly what support you need. We start with understanding where you are now.

Simple everyday tasks take far more energy than people realise.
Mornings often end in stress, frustration or shutdown.
You’re constantly playing catch-up with everyday responsibilities.
You avoid certain places or situations because they feel too overwhelming.
Wondering whether ADHD, autism or another neurodivergent profile explains your experiences.
Trying to understand why things seem harder than they do for other people.
Looking for answers that finally make sense.
Ready to understand your strengths as well as your challenges.
You feel misunderstood by others.
Communication often feels harder than you think it should.

Conflict happens more often than you would like.
You’d like to feel more confident expressing your needs.

Anxiety or overwhelm is impacting everyday life.
You feel stuck, exhausted and unsure where to begin.
You’re looking for support that is understanding, not judgemental.
Starting tasks feels almost impossible
Planning and organisation are a constant struggle.
Planning routines, that don’t seem to stick.
