Chronically Alive

Why it exists

Over the years that I have been a mentor, I have supported many people with such diverse combinations of needs. Alongside my neurodivergent work, though, there has been another common theme: chronic illness.

I have had the privilege of supporting clients as they come to terms with a chronic illness diagnosis, bringing different pieces of information together to build a fuller picture of themselves, and discovering new parts of their identity as they learn to live with what has changed.

A diagnosis can be a hard and very long road. It can bring answers, but it can also bring confusion. New sensations, new challenges, changes in what your body can do, changes in what you can manage, and sometimes a sense that the person you were before diagnosis no longer quite fits.

There is support for diagnosis, treatment and managing symptoms. But there can be much less support for learning how to actually adapt to life with chronic illness — to understand yourself within it, to find new ways of doing things, and ultimately to build a life that still feels like yours.

That is one of the reasons I created Chronically Alive.

I bring professional, personal and lived experience of chronic illness to this work. With my own experience of living with multiple chronic health conditions, I also bring years of supporting people whose lives have been shaped by chronic illness, neurodivergence and the combination of the two.

I also understand that these things do not always fit neatly into separate boxes.

Two paths joining together, neurodivergence and chronic illness.
Together we find a different path.
A different view, a different Path window.

For example, what helps a neurodivergent brain regulate and process may not always be what a chronically ill body needs. Chronic fatigue may need rest and reduced demand, while an ADHD brain may need stimulation, movement or something engaging to help it regulate. Sensory needs can change. Energy can fluctuate. Pain can change how you process the world. What works one day may not work the next.

How do we do it?

Together we learn about you — your symptoms, your experiences, your environment and the things that matter to you. In this step we examine your energy, pain and other markers, alongside your processing style, sensory needs and how these things change and fluctuate.

We put it all together. We map it out. And then, slowly, we build simple, realistic ways of supporting you that give more than they take.

Designed around you.

Because I know that life with chronic illness isn’t consistent or linear, the support shouldn’t be either.

Chronically Alive is flexible and designed to meet you where you are. Support can take place online or in person, and includes WhatsApp access for in-the-moment support alongside your sessions. You also have access to your own client portal, where you can revisit session notes and plans and find supportive, uplifting messages between sessions.

Chronically Alive is for you.

Whether you are navigating chronic illness on your own or alongside family, it can feel isolating, exhausting and frightening. The experience can leave you doubting your own ability, your body and even your mind.

But adapting to a different way of living isn’t giving up.

It is about learning to listen to yourself differently. Understanding what your body and brain are communicating. And sometimes it is about letting go of expectations that no longer fit and finding new possibilities that do.

Chronically Alive is about discovering what life can look like from here — not by pushing through, fixing you or asking you to become someone different, but by understanding the person you are now and finding ways to support you.

A different path. At your pace.
